After approximately one hour’s drive from the city of Riyadh, we arrive at an area with sandstone hills where we start our hike, exploring a trail that offers glimpses of the past when people used to rely on groundwater and build fences with rocks to protect their livestock. Before sunset, we enjoy dinner around a bonfire, which offers an opportunity to hear some of the Saudi stories before we start our gazing into the sky to marvel at the constellations.
